With over 25 years of experience in the automotive industry, Carclasse is the largest Mercedes-Benz dealership and authorized service center in Portugal and a representative of the Jaguar and Land Rover brands, as well as smart. It has locations in Braga, Famalicão, Lisbon, and the Algarve, among others.
The industry faces several challenges, such as changes in the distribution model, the entry of new players, the electrification of vehicles, the adaptation of after-sales services, and, last but not least, micromobility
CHALLENGE
To support its operations, Carclasse relies on various information systems for a wide range of functions, including DMS, workflow management, and CRM, among others.
All of these systems represent highly relevant data sources, but they are difficult for decision-makers to access, primarily due to the lack of a single view of information. This requires a significant effort on the part of the organization to create dashboards featuring key management indicators.
SOLUTION
Vera IB developed a BI solution with a dedicated data warehouse, making it possible to centralize key performance indicators and ensuring they are easily accessible and automatically retrieved from various sources.
The solution uses Microsoft technology—the technological foundation of Carclasse—specifically SQL Server for the database and Power BI and Excel for data analysis.
The implementation process involved a detailed assessment of the information needs of various departments (sales, service, parts, financing, and finance) and an analysis of their respective data sources.
The development included the creation of an automated data extraction mechanism that cleans and transforms the data to align with Carclasse’s business context, presenting it in intuitive, easily accessible maps and dashboards that reflect the business perspectives
RESULTS
Carclasse now has daily access—without the need for manual updates—to maps and dashboards featuring the metrics necessary to manage its operations independently.
The level of detail is comprehensive, allowing each indicator to be linked to and display the specific data that generated it (e.g., workshop details, WIP, part reference numbers, labor codes, among others).
As is typical in this type of project, Carclasse took the opportunity to improve certain procedures that arose from situations identified as various indicators emerged.
